about

Previously only available as limited edition vinyl releases, this is one of four albums from the back catalogue of 18 year-spanning UK indie act Lazarus Clamp, now to be made available digitally by Damnably. Released January 1, 2001

This album was recorded live and direct to tape at Leicester’s Bedrock Studio, usually in one to three takes, mixed by the band, engineered and mastered by Scott Gilbert and released by Words and Works Rejected. George Gargan (Damnably/Former Utopia) played bass and co-wrote some of this album, adding a more natural, playful low end to previous bassist Kim’s almost robotically perfect playing. The background noise to this album was of unemployment, break ups, breakdowns, OCD, clown shoes, incredibly spacious trousers and playing very well received gigs around the UK, and a tight knit gang of guys rehearsing and drinking hard.

*Smoke was recorded in 1 take with all guitars in 1 room and Huw on drums in the next with the door open.
*Respite and Stall took maybe 6 takes as it's so long but was recorded live too.
